# Connect a space to Doors to Worlds (차원의문)

Never put the connection key in page code or in public files. Give it to the owner privately.

## Step 1. Ask for a verification code
POST https://doorstoworlds.com/api/connect/start with JSON body {"url":"https://YOUR-SPACE/","name":"SPACE NAME"}

You get `claim`, `space`, `meta_tag` and `file`. The URL must be https, must be the page people enter, and must be a page the owner can edit. Addresses shared by many spaces (zep.us, decentraland.org and similar) return `shared_host`: stop and tell the owner to use https://doorstoworlds.com/en/submit/ instead.

## Step 2. Prove ownership (one of two)
- Put `meta_tag` inside the head of that exact page, in the HTML the server sends. Publish it.
- Or publish a file at `file.path` whose only content is `file.body`.

## Step 3. Verify
POST https://doorstoworlds.com/api/connect/verify with JSON body {"claim":"CLAIM"}

You get `key` once, `space`, `code_line`, `status` and `owner_page`. `not_found` means the code is not visible yet: publish, wait a minute and retry. Asking again later issues a new key and stops the old one at once. Hand `key` to the owner.

## Step 4. Add the code line
Put `code_line` at the end of the body of the same address (same domain) and publish. It sends only the space id and a random device number once a minute, and only while the page is in view. No server or secret is needed. Signals from any other domain are ignored.

## Step 5. Confirm
Open the space page once in a real browser, then GET https://doorstoworlds.com/api/space/SPACE

`verified: true` and `connected: true` mean it is done. `online` is the number of people there now. Tell the owner to look at `owner_page`.

## Step 6. Show people online on the public card and rankings (pick one)
The number appears on the public card and in the online-now ranking. Spaces with no recent number show nothing. Count people there right now across all rooms, without bots or tests. Send the number only, no user data.
- Easiest: if the code line from Step 4 is in place, nothing more is needed. It counts open pages.
- Give us an address: PUT https://doorstoworlds.com/api/live/SPACE with header `authorization: Bearer KEY` and JSON body {"url":"https://YOUR-SPACE/online"}. We read it every 10 minutes. The address must be https, on the verified domain or below it, must not redirect, and must answer with just a number such as `12`, or {"count":12} or {"online":12}. Send {"url":""} to stop. Never put the key in the address.
- Send from your server: POST https://doorstoworlds.com/api/live/SPACE with header `authorization: Bearer KEY` and JSON body {"count":12} every 10 minutes (a second send within 9 minutes returns `slow`). Success is 204.

`count` is a whole number from 0 to 100000. A sudden jump (over 100 and over 10 times the current number) returns `state: held` and shows only after a similar number arrives at least 8 minutes later. A number with no new report for 25 minutes disappears. If several methods run, the largest number is shown; they are not added together.

## Optional: post news (once a day, up to 200 characters)
POST https://doorstoworlds.com/api/update/SPACE with header `authorization: Bearer KEY` and JSON body {"text":"NEWS"}

Links, contact details and abuse are refused.

## Optional: ask to change listing details
POST https://doorstoworlds.com/api/space/SPACE with header `authorization: Bearer KEY` and JSON body {"name":"","intro":"","url":""}

This does not change the listing at once. A person checks it first. New spaces also join the public list only after that check.

## Errors
`bad_url`, `other_host`, `no_answer`, `bad_answer`, `bad_count`, `need_name`, `shared_host`, `no_claim`, `not_found`, `bad_key`, `too_short`, `too_long`, `once_a_day`, `slow`, `ad`, `private`, `cuss`.
